Fruit Or Foe? The Bitter Truth About Fructose & Liver disease

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a condition where there is an accumulation of fat in the liver.

It is a growing concern worldwide and is closely linked to obesity and metabolic syndrome.

"One major dietary factor that has been implicated in the development of NAFLD is fructose. Fructose is a type of sugar that is naturally found in fruits and vegetables, and is often added to processed foods as a sweetener."

Unlike glucose, which is metabolized by every cell in the body, fructose is primarily metabolized in the liver. When we consume high amounts of fructose, the liver is overloaded with sugar and converts it into fat.

This leads to the accumulation of fat in the liver, which can cause inflammation and damage to liver cells. Over time, this can progress to NAFLD.
